The Learning Academy from the Center on Community Living and Careers offers targeted courses to provide the deep understanding and practical applications you need to effectively help people with disabilities reach their vocational goals.
Courses run quarterly and take about five hours to complete. These courses are asynchronous, so you complete them on your own time, and come with a certificate and continuing education units. Click on the registration button for more information.
Foundations of Autism
- 5 hours, 6 CRCs, .5 CEs, 5 PGPs

This course provides a foundation for understanding how autism may affect an individual within the context of community. In addition to diagnostic criteria and common characteristics, we explore the neurodiversity movement and how embracing autism as a variation benefits everyone. We apply Universal Design and Universal Design Learning principles for creating inclusive settings across the lifespan.
Autism: Transitioning to Adult Life

In this course, we describe how an autistic individual can successfully transition from high school to a fulfilling adult life. We review the characteristics of autism spectrum disorder and explore a variety of cultural perspectives, stigmas, and biases. Our primary focus is on the transition process and how to assist autistic individuals through career decision-making and training toward quality employment.
